A Bloody Mary is a vodka based cocktail with tomato juice and other spices and flavourings, and in the United States it is usually consumed in the morning or early afternoon and is a popular hangover cure.
Invented in the early 1900s there are various theories as to the origin of the drink, as well as the origin of its name. As with a lot of cocktails, there are many variations and recipes listed for a Bloody Mary, but tomato juice and vodka are always the common ingredients.
Cocktail snobs probably won′t consider the Dr Zhivago a cocktail! However, those partial to Dr Pepper are sure to love it.
